Montpellier research cluster

Over a decade Montpellier Business School has developed strategic alliances to other management science research centers of the Montpellier University. Today the business school’s research faculty is member of a common research center evaluated and habilitated by the French state: Montpellier Recherche en Management (MRM, EA4557). This federation regroups since 2011 the formerly entitled university research centers CR2M, ERFI, CREGOR and the business school’s research faculty. This business school-university cooperation has been recognized and rewarded by the government evaluation office (AERES) by four year accreditation (2011-2014 and 2015-2019). The University of Montpellier, the University of Perpignan, and the Montpellier Business School are the founding institutions of MRM. MRM is an example of cooperation between universities and between universities and business schools. This research center is today one of France largest in Management Science including more than 130 researchers and 70 PhD students).

MRM is affiliated to the University of Montpellier Doctoral College ‘Economy & Management’ (EDEG, ED 231).

Research at MBS also connects to the interdisciplinary LabEx Entrepreneurship (Entreprendre), a research initiative funded by the French Government, to foster thematic excellence research clusters (‘investissements d’avenir’). In 2011, the MBS research faculty and university colleagues were granted the Labex (laboratory of excellence) ‘Entrepreneurship’, the only Labex in France on the theme of entrepreneurship. The Labex includes more than 200 researchers (including doctoral students) from management science, law and economy. Our faculty participates actively in the Labex. The Labex Chair ‘Entrepreneurship & Innovation’, for example, is coordinated by four of our colleagues (F. Lasch, A. Jaouen, F. Robert, and K. Gundolf).
The Chair ‘Entrepreneurship & Innovation’ is organizer the annual entrepreneurship conference ‘Interdisciplinary European Conference on Entrepreneurship Research’ (IECER).

Similarly, the research program ‘Inter-organizational strategies & Innovation’ is animated by two colleagues (F. Le Roy, a university professor, and M. Robert, MBS faculty). Other MBS faculty members participate as members in further Labex programs and chairs.
