Organization of Work and Leisure in the Knowledge-Based Economy

The advent of the Internet has already had and will continue to have an enormous impact on the way society is organized. This research group explores how the “ecosystems” of organizations that emerge in knowledge intensive sectors manage to innovate. Our interest is in the effectiveness of the “eco-systems” of organizations in the creation, maintenance and transfer of common knowledge as well as in the workers, freelancers, and volunteers of these “meta-organizations”. This research theme has many aspects and is pursued by researchers at Montpellier Business School (Den Besten, Gurău, Nakara) in collaboration with researchers elsewhere such as Dalle (UPMC/Ecole Polytechnique, Paris), David (Stanford/MERIT, Maastricht), Martinez (CSIC, Madrid), Pozzi (Einaudi, Rome).

Current projects include:
- actors in the innovation ecosystems of the new economy
- Harnessing citizen science (partially supported ESF APE-INV)
- Micro-economics of competition and cooperation in software development contests
- Online content and knowledge triage (as ANR project OCKTOPUS)
- Attaining congruence in the knowledge commons.
