STRAT’Innov LR project: companies and students delighted by the experience!

From 15 - 19 December, 130 business leaders met at the Montpellier Business School for the 2nd edition of STRAT’Innov LR. They attended the presentation of the strategic recommendations by Master’s students in their final year, in the presence of their coach-teachers. It was an opportunity for all to share, identify new business models and also to ask for further details.

In partnership with Languedoc-Roussillon CCI (Chamber of Commerce and Industry), STRAT’innov LR is an educational project set up to challenge students from Montpellier Business School to express strategic recommendations concerning concrete problems assigned to them by companies. For these assessed presentations, students’ teamwork must provide specific arguments and clear operational actions to answer the questions from business leaders from all sectors.

“My question was about the market supply strategy to be adopted regarding the two deposits around Montpellier”, explains Pascal Barylo, Languedoc-Roussillon Area Manager for GSM Aggregates (Italcementi Group), a company that manages aggregate deposits and supplies the construction and public works markets with sand and gravel. “The students have carefully analysed the complex environment in which I move; they were able to take the necessary perspective to deal with the situation intelligently and gave me a slightly different opinion from mine, but which reinforces my strategic vision. STRAT’Innov LR is a very interesting exercise and I’ll be back next year to put another industrial puzzle to the students from Montpellier Business School!”

On this last day of support, Paul Martin, the coordinator of the Strat’Innov LR project takes stock: “The quality of the students’ work has improved since last year; the groups recommendations were mostly relevant! Almost half of the presentations were excellent, and some groups were exceptional, giving companies directly applicable solutions and a genuine potential for change thanks to their recommendations. We are obviously delighted with the our students’ work. As most of them are on sandwich courses, they had to juggle schedules, geographic distance and genuine academic pressure. The warm thanks from the companies that we receive every day are dedicated directly to them. We will all end this very busy week with our heads full of ideas for the next edition”

The call for projects for the 3rd edition of STRAT’Innov LR will be launched in the spring of 2015! Keep it in mind!
