Phares Programme : A trip to Toulouse for disabled students, a great experience organized by Montpellier BS

« Go beyond your disability, move forward and succeed in your studies », is the mantra of the PHARES programme in which Montpellier BS committed in 2012 in reference to its commitment to equal opportunities. At the end of the year, this monitoring and coaching programme done by volunteer student from MBS ends with a trip in France, a real reward for all these young people. It took place in March, in Toulouse.

Aimed at high school students, the goal of this programme is to enhance young students with disabilities and help them develop transferable skills such as autonomy, oral fluency or the ability of teamwork, skills that will be useful for them, regardless their professional project. Beyond the weekly coaching, volunteer students from Montpellier BS involved in the programme organize trips to change the lives of these students with disabilities, such as Toulouse the weekend of  the 18th of March!

This trip is part of the organization for three years now. After two years in Paris, Sophie Gosselin, in charge of health and disability Mission in Montpellier BS, realized this year that excursion in Toulouse. Thus, 11 students with disabilities and 5 student tutors were able to enjoy and visit the largest aerospace site in Europe and observe the assembly line of the Airbus A380! Discovery of the city center of Toulouse, a boat ride on the Canal du Midi and a day at la Cité de l’Espace were also scheduled.

A rich experience! As Guillaume said: « It was a great pleasure to be able to share these moments with the students. Because this trip is the consecration for them after all the work and effort provided during the year. For a year, they were in touch with their 8 tutors who supervised them through activities and study support sometimes. Among the proposed workshops, there were professional meetings, fun games to develop their creativity, presentations to improve their oral fluency and of course, the realization of their first CV as well as a cover letter in order to find their first apprenticeship.»

Montpellier Business School would like to thank its students who committed to the PHARES programme this year!
